Everyone Should Teach Writing

NOTE: While many of the points in this article are useful for confronting the claim in the title, we must be diligent about the distinctions between assigning writing and teaching writing as well as ensuring that all faculty are well prepared to teach and respond to writing. Our experience with implementing the first year writing seminar at Furman has taught us that these issues are very complex and must be done with significant purpose.
